Angelica Mesiti's exhibition for the Australian Pavilion, ASSEMBLY, has now opened at the 2019 Biennale di Venezia. The three channel video work, produced by Bridget Ikin, is situated in a carpeted architectural amphitheater, with six channel sound composed by Max Lyandvert.
Curator, Juliana Engberg, says “ASSEMBLY seeks to create a new space for those who want to speak differently, hear attentively, and act together to form a new translation of the democratic process.”
The piece will also be part of the National Gallery’s 2020 program and with plans to tour nationally the following year, in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts. Read more here.
